Is it wrong to Judge? (John 10:31-42)

Did Jesus forbid judging? If he had he would have condemned himself because no one criticized the Pharisees and scribes more than Jesus Christ. No, in fact Jesus commands his disciples to judge – you are to “judge with right judgment” (John 7:24).

What Jesus forbids is hypocritical judgment. He prohibits judging another person for the very same things you yourself practice (Matthew 7:1-5).

In (John 10:31-42) Jesus gives two simple principles for making right judgments. Before you condemn your neighbor ask yourself: 1) Is what this person saying or doing agreeing with Scripture? And 2) Is what this person is saying or doing bringing glory to God?

This is what Jesus was encouraging his accusers to do before they picked up stones to kill him (John 10:32).

You can apply these principles not only to others, but to yourself as well.
